TALES OF THE DISTRICT:
Life in the Nation’s Capital
in a Time of Terror
Evoking the style of Charles Dickens and Armistead Maupin's popular "Tales of the City," published author Rachel King's first novel is an amusing, fast-moving story of three characters maneuvering through life in the nation's capital in the post-September 11 political climate.
"Tales of the District" explores themes of terrorism, sexuality, vegetarianism, the Democratic party, and most importantly, what it means to be a family and live in community. Once you start reading it, you'll be hooked.
The Takoma Voice selected "Tales of the District" to be the first locally-produced, serialized novel featured in its literary blog (web log), launched this year as "Local Lit." Readers who may enjoy this format can begin anytime and read the weekly chapter installments at their own pace.
